Water well screen is a filtering device that connects to the bottom length of the casing.

It allows water to flow into the well while keeping most sand and gravel out.

A water well screen is important in all wells that are completed in an unconsolidated aquifer.

Water well screen is manufactured by wrapping a shaped wire around an internal array of longitudinal rods and are joined by resistance welding. Screen sections are usually twenty feet long. Most water well screen is manufactured from stainless steel rather than carbon steel in order to avoid problems which often lead to accelerated corrosion.
